The Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently in its 17th year in 2024. The world’s most popular franchise cricket league keeps improving with every passing season. The inaugural IPL was in 2008 and was won by Rajasthan Royals (RR), but they have failed to win a single title since then. In 2023, the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) took on the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final, with the latter winning their fifth IPL title, a record they share with their biggest rivals, Mumbai Indians (MI). The Sporting News takes an early look at the odds for each team to win IPL 2024.
According to Dafabet, Rajasthan Royals who have won eight out of 10 matches are still the red hot favourites to win IPL 2024 at this stage. Sanju Samson’s side have been in great form, with the likes of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal coming to the fore. Even the recent loss to SRH has not dented their chances.KKR, fresh off a demoralising loss to PBKS, are still among the favourites to win IPL 2024.
SRH, led by Pat Cummins, are also in the mix despite a mid-season blip. but poor away from home. That has seen them slip a bit from the early season favourites tag. The recent loss to PBKS has not helped them.MI, five-time IPL winners themselves, are not really contenders for the IPL title this year, given their shoddy form and team co-ordination.Virat Kohli’s RCB and Gujarat Titans are the least favourites to win the IPL this time around.
